I haven’t been back here in a good long while and i apologize to anyone who might be following this blog.
Several things happened in my life which have made it difficult to keep up…am trying to.
My parents both passed away within 1 yr of each other.
My husband has become very ill.
I am now supporting Herman Cain for the Republican nominee and President in 2012. All of these things have taken up a great deal of my life.
For people who might say politics and religion don’t mix.I would say i happen to be a Catholic who is interested in politics. All of us-as citizens-must stay involved.
I don’t cease to be Catholic when i walk into the voting booth.
We don’t cease to be Catholic anytime.
It’s not meant to be a religion of convenience. We don’t drop it off at any door. It is who we should be to the core. We pray the Creeds, but then we LIVE them.
Keep this in mind though. There are many “Catholic” politicians who don’t live the faith. They cause scandal. There are many non Catholic politicians-like Herman Cain-who are more in keeping with the teaching of the Catholic Church than these scandalous Catholics.
To name just a few;Pelosi,Kerry, the Kennedy’s, Guilliani,Ridge. Not all are Dem(most). There are a few Republicans that i have to wonder don’t adopt their pro abortion position for the sake of getting elected. The reason doesn’t matter.Church teaching is that abortion is intrinsically evil. The Church is not a Democracy. The Church has never taught that abortion was acceptable. NEVER. Pelosi claimed otherwise and claimed she knew Church teaching.Afraid not mam. You are totally ignorant of Church teaching and to make this claim is to cause further scandal.I think even MOST non Catholics know that this is not Church teaching.
The first question i ask about a candidate is the life question. If they’re pro life we can take it from there. He or she will be up for my consideration. Then comes economics. You get the moral questions right- you’ve passed that test. We don’t have to agree totally on any other issues.
Of course,i want to be sure you have the quality of leadership and service. Herman Cain fit the whole bill.
Check him out here and tell me you don’t think this man should be our next President! HERMAN CAIN:HE’S THE MAN
John Paul II
